Nautical Storage Box

Here's another storage box made out of a cardboard box.  I made this one for my son's nautical themed room for storing stuff in his closet.  I used stiff burlap and trimmed it with rope.  I used a stencil for the anchor and just colored it in with a Sharpie.

  1. I love burlap and I love anchors! This is so fantastic! How did you paint the anchor so that it didn't bleed past the stencil? How did you fasten the burlap? Thanks!

    1. Thank you! For the anchor I just used a black Sharpie marker and I used hot glue to fasten the burlap and rope.

  3. I am trying my hand at this and am having fun! I was wondering if I could "pick your brain" for help one last time. I am not that crafty and so making the rope edges look neat is where I'm a little stuck. Is there a trick to hiding the raw ends and not having them bump up if they are tucked in where the end meet?

    1. For the rope I used two long pieces(for the front and back) and two short pieces (for the sides). First I glued on the long pieces and then cut the two short pieces to fit in-between the long pieces. I didn't tuck any of the rope in so the top photo shows the raw ends of the rope hanging down in front. For the short pieces I just bumped the ends up as tight as I could to the long pieces. I hope this helps and good luck!
